About Us

Our anthropology is one of action. Do "with" instead of "to". We try to understand the space, the time of each one. We look at what exists "between" people. Objects, buildings, walls, values, emotions. But we look mainly at people; we look at ourselves, therefore.

We are a family owned and operated business.

We do public anthropology, because we look at specific problems, in particular territories. We live well with the fluidity of the contemporary world; with one foot inside and one outside the Academy, we start from scientific knowledge to adopt the most appropriate strategies for each territory, in a constant premise of sharing.

Everything is useful in this anthropology of action: the video, a performance, a class at a primary school. We are children of the public school and proud to have subordinates. We are already far from any idea of ethnography, which would oblige us to distinguish the “me” from the “other”. This is our relational basis. As anthropologists, we claim our quality of “people in the world”. For this reason, we like to sign “we, the natives”.

DIOGO ALEXANDRE MENDES

Setubalense in Lisbon, I am taking a degree in Political Science. Although I am studying science, for me politics is practical, popular and part of life - just like writing. Due to the idea that science must be an agent of political transformation and people's conditions, that art must have a social perspective and also because Wamãe welcomes my daydreams, I joined the association in its foundation. I worked in a social action cooperative, I organized myself with the community in student struggles and as a result of that, in 2018 a publication of poetry emerges. After two years without writing, I participated in the construction of the script and script for the project “De Tanto Fingir I found myself” and working with the “Incredible Teatro do Mercúrio”.
